Golden Black Mothers · No. 1
Some love was always holy.
Golden Black Mothers is a rich, icon-style portrait of a mother in a black veil trimmed with gold, her child held close, both crowned with radiating halos, while more children gather around them against a warm gold ground.
For centuries the old masters painted holiness this way, in gold leaf, halos and robes picked out in bead and thread, almost always onto faces that weren't ours.
Because the first image of grace most of us ever knew was a mother's face.
Here the sacred mother is Black, and so is everyone gathered around her. Nothing in the composition asks permission to belong. The halos aren't decoration, they're recognition, and her steady gaze says the rest: what she holds, she protects.
Black, deep umber and burnished gold. Strong enough to hold a room from across it, textured enough to pull you in close.
Perfect for:
- Living rooms, hallways and quiet corners
- Lovers of classical and icon-inspired art
- Mothers, grandmothers and new parents
- Black History Month and cultural celebrations
- Anyone who believes family is sacred
Golden Black Mothers. For every one who held us.
Hang it. Hold close. Give thanks.
Every wall tells a story.
