The Regent · Noble Courtiers No. 5 | Framed Art Print | Originology | Black History X
Noble Courtiers · No. 5
Some women don't wait for the crown. They hold the kingdom anyway.
The Regent is a portrait in the grand old-master style: a Black woman in a lace ruff and black engraved armour, a heavy gold chain across her chest and the faintest smile, while the men of the court gather in the shadows behind her.
Black women stood close to power in Europe's courts for centuries, as wives, advisers and keepers of great houses. The portraits caught their faces. History rarely caught their names.
Because the courts of Europe were never as white as their paintings made them look.
The lace is grace. The armour is authority. The smile is the point: she already knows how this ends.
Black, antique gold, ivory and deep umber. Strong enough to hold a room from across it, textured enough to pull you in close.
Perfect for:
- Living rooms, studies and hallways that need a statement portrait
- Lovers of classical and old-master painting
- Anyone drawn to hidden histories
- Black History Month displays
- A gift for the woman who runs everything
The Regent. In charge, and smiling.
Hang it. Stand tall. Take the room.
Every wall tells a story.
