The Envoy · Noble Courtiers No. 3 | Framed Art Print | Originology | Black History X
Noble Courtiers · No. 3
Some men carry a whole kingdom's word in their mouth.
The Envoy is a portrait in the grand old-master style: a bearded Black man in a great white ruff and gilded armour, a red sash at his shoulder, turned in profile as if listening to a king.
African envoys crossed seas to stand in Europe's royal courts for centuries, speaking for crowns of their own. They were received, and painted, and then forgotten.
Because the courts of Europe were never as white as their paintings made them look.
The ruff is ceremony. The armour is power. The profile is the point: he is here on his own nation's business.
Antique gold, ivory, deep umber and a flash of crimson. Strong enough to hold a room from across it, textured enough to pull you in close.
Perfect for:
- Living rooms, studies and hallways that need a statement portrait
- Lovers of classical and old-master painting
- Anyone drawn to hidden histories
- Black History Month displays
- A gift for someone who speaks for their people
The Envoy. Sent with purpose.
Hang it beside The Ambassador, Noble Courtiers No. 4, and the two face each other across the wall.
Every wall tells a story.
